History Overwritten, 1989/2025
I have overlaid multiple positives of different students' images, solarised, and inverted them, transforming the clarity of each figure into dense, layered compositions. The details of individual faces dissolve, merging into a larger mass, reflecting the erosion of identity within a system that sought to shape its youth into a singular, obedient collective. These portraits have become also the foundation for Pavlov’s Children and Faux Diamonds, where they continue to explore the tension between individual identity and collective control, examining the impact of authoritarian regimes on personal freedom and memory.
